
Director, Integrated Markets
The Director Integrated Markets plays a key coordination and leadership role in delivering high-impact programing that supports the adoption of innovative technologies across British Columbia. Reporting to the Managing Director, Commercialization & IP Programs, this role oversees a team of Portfolio Leads which connects BC-based technology solutions with real-world business needs to drive sustainability and productivity outcomes.
The Director is responsible for ensuring operational consistency, program alignment, and effective stakeholder engagement across all commercial adoption portfolios. This includes supporting program design and evaluation, guiding the standardization of internal processes, and helping maintain strong relationships with public and private sector partners. The successful candidate will bring a strong background in portfolio and program management, ideally within clean tech, sustainability, or public-sector innovation environments. They will have experience delivering results in grant-funded or impact-driven programming, with a focus on operational effectiveness and measurable outcomes. Familiarity with Innovate BC, the Integrated Marketplace program, and other provincial or federal funding programs is considered a strong asset.
Compensation: $120,000-$142,000

Work Arrangement: Hybrid role with a requirement to work in-office at least 2 days per week. Limited travel may be required.

What You Will Be Doing
Business Execution:
Program Management + Coordination:
- Oversee the execution and operational coordination of commercial adoption program - Integrated Markets
- Ensure program milestones, deliverables, and reporting requirements are met across all portfolios
- Support Portfolio Leads in refining program delivery tools, evaluation processes, and stakeholder engagement plans
- Lead the design and development of new programs, including development of KPIs to track success
- Development and deployment of SOPs for program delivery that are in compliance with IBC’s requirements.
- Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the Integrated Markets team
- Encourage the adoption of best practices and new approaches to program delivery
- Stay informed on industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in program management
Technical/Position Delivery:
Program Delivery + Management:
- Oversee the implementation and delivery of programs, ensuring they are executed effectively and efficiently
- Manage program budgets, timelines, and resources to achieve desired outcomes
- Coordinate with internal teams, including the Director of Data & IT, and external partners to ensure seamless program integration and execution
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track the success and impact of programs
- Conduct regular program evaluations and adjust strategies as needed to ensure continuous improvement and relevance
- Report on program outcomes to the executive team and stakeholders
Team/People Engagement:
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders.
- Facilitate collaboration and partnerships to support program objectives and enhance ecosystem engagement
- Represent IBC at industry events, conferences, and meetings to promote programs and initiatives
- Lead and mentor the program team, providing guidance, support, performance management and professional development opportunities
- Foster a collaborative and high-performance team culture

What You Will Need
Position Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public policy, environmental science, engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree in a relevant field (e.g., business, technology, engineering) preferred
- Experience: 5–8 years of progressive experience in program, project, or portfolio management, preferably in a grant-funded or public sector innovation environment. Experience in managing budgets, resources, and timelines effectively
- Sustainability + Program Design Expertise: Proven experience in designing and managing sustainability-aligned programs with measurable impact.
- Analytical + Process Skills: Strong proficiency in data analysis, program evaluation, and process improvement tools.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Ability to build and foster effective relationships with government agencies, industry stakeholders, solution providers, and internal teams. Exceptional communication and relationship-building abilities, and an ability to lead and inspire teams
- Communication + Administrative Skills: Skilled in developing internal and external communications, along with CRM and reporting system proficiency.
- Strong understanding of the innovation ecosystem, including startups, industry partners, research institutions, and government agencies
- Excellent strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Project Management Certification (e.g., PMP) or process improvement certification (e.g., Lean Six Sigma).
- Experience managing government or non-profit funded grant programs, including compliance and reporting.
- Background in clean tech and sustainability regulations and industry standards.

- Skilled in evaluating complex problems, analyzing potential solutions, applying critical thinking, and implementing effective strategies that address both short-term and long-term goals
- Committed to fostering a culture of innovation by encouraging new ideas and approaches, continuously seeking ways to enhance program effectiveness and efficiency
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and bring ideas and viable solutions for organizational related issues, to the executive team for review and approval.
- Plans, allocates and manages resources appropriately within departments(s) to achieve desired results against plan.
