
Accountant
Reporting to the Controller, the Accountant will assist the Finance & Administration department with general accounting functions. This role will have a broad range of responsibilities involving many aspects of the monthly, quarterly, and year end close process. The ideal candidate has excellent communication skills, enjoys working both independently and collaboratively on a team, and has high attention to detail.
Compensation: $60,000 - $70,000
Reporting to: Controller
Location: Vancouver, BC
Work Arrangement: Hybrid role with a requirement to work in-office at least 2 days per week
Employment Type: Permanent, Full-time
What you will be doing
- Accounts payable: coding in accordance with budget; EFT and cheque payments
- Accounts receivable
- Sub-lease monthly billing
- Monthly reconciliation of credit cards statements
- Vendor bank verification
- Program claims
- Organizing and maintaining accounting files and filing systems
- Follow up with staff regarding expense reimbursement
- Assisting in tasks related to year-end audit
- Other accounting-related projects, as assigned
What you will need
- Degree or diploma in Accounting or a related discipline
- At least 1–3 years of experience in accounting or accounts payable
- Experience in the public sector or a not-for-profit organization is an asset
- Proficiency with QuickBooks
- Strong skills in Microsoft Excel
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- A people-oriented individual who enjoys building strong internal and external relationships
- Professional, proactive, and curious, with strong integrity and a demonstrated ability to take initiative
Working Conditions
- IBC is a hybrid organization and requires employees to work in-office at least 2 days per week. IBC is headquartered in Vancouver, BC with a satellite office in Victoria, BC
- Limited travel may be required
