Vancouver, BC – November 17, 2025 – Innovate BC is proud to announce the launch of the Microgrant Platform, a new funding initiative that provides rapid, low-barrier support to help early-stage ventures in British Columbia accelerate their growth. The platform empowers innovators to test, validate, and scale emerging technologies that drive economic impact across the province.
The first call under this platform, the Go-To-Market Microgrant, helps startups fast-track their commercialization efforts and drive early revenue growth. This targeted stream supports companies that are ready to bring proven technologies to market and strengthen British Columbia’s innovation economy.
Delivered by Innovate BC and funded by the Province of British Columbia, the call provides non-repayable funding between $10,000 and $50,000 to support B.C. companies in addressing key early-stage go-to-market activities. With a streamlined 4-6 week intake, review, and contracting process, the program offers fast, flexible support for innovators ready to act on their most pressing business opportunities.
“Innovate BC’s new Microgrant Platform fills an important need and represents our government’s focus on modernizing innovation programming,” said Brenda Bailey, Minister of Finance. “By providing commercialization support to high potential companies, we’re helping the next great generation of innovators turn their ideas into real-world solutions that grow the economy and support small- and medium-enterprises across the province.”
From building brand awareness, launching targeted campaigns, or investing in materials and talent to secure first customers, this call is tailored to help startups gain traction, create equity, and build enterprise value.
“Innovation doesn’t wait - and neither should support,” said Peter Cowan, President + CEO of Innovate BC. “This new platform is about meeting founders where they are and giving them the tools to move quickly, confidently, and strategically into the market. It will enable startups not just to launch their product, but to build a repeatable sales process and generate consistent revenue, setting them up for long-term success.”
To apply, companies are required to be for-profit and headquartered in British Columbia, incorporated, and have a product or service in-market or ready to sell. Applicants must also be able to demonstrate a clear market opportunity, secured funding or early revenue, a strategy to engage early customers, established market fit, and capacity to execute.
