Program Specialist

The Program Specialist is responsible for driving the successful delivery of Innovate BC’s Tech Adoption programs, which supports companies to fund critical research and accelerate the market adoption of new B.C. innovations across industry sectors. The Program Specialist supports the effective administration and evaluation of project applications, monitoring status reports, and oversight of funded projects. This is a temporary, 1-year contract with the possibility of extension. 

Compensation: $50,000 to $60,000 per annum

The Tech Adoption programs team facilitates the development and adoption of emerging technologies that address challenges faced by British Columbians and around the world. Through our Ignite, BC Fast Pilot and Challenge programs, Innovate BC has funded the most promising innovations — from water treatment and clean energy to decarbonization, reforestation and more — to help tackle broad industry problems, and drive customer adoption.  

 

About the Job

Reporting to the Program Manager, Tech Adoption, this role is ideal for a process-minded team player, with strong analytical and project management skills. Key responsibilities include tracking and monitoring ongoing projects and program KPI’s; managing contracts and deliverables with internal and external stakeholders; analyzing data and preparing status reports for decision-making and recommendations; supporting program activities through webinars, events and meetings; and facilitating engagement with the broader innovation ecosystem. 

 

Major Accountabilities

  • Promotes and communicates the program to a variety of stakeholders in academic, government, and industry settings
  • Facilitates relationships and develops co-funding opportunities with other relevant programs, agencies, funders or investors 
  • Collaborates with the team to support and develop new economic development initiatives 
  • Maintains awareness of developments in the fields of science and technology, entrepreneurship, economic development and financial assistance programs 
  • Supports the development and delivery of Tech Adoption programs and initiatives, ensuring that objectives and targets are met in a timely and effective manner 
  • Coordinates the intake, evaluation and approval of project applications, supports our external reviewer committee(s), and reviews financial and technical documentation 
  • Monitors ongoing projects to ensure compliance with program policies and standards 
  • Collects, updates and analyzes databases and reports for program evaluation, and assessment of program impact and improvements  

 

Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of related work experience and/or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience coordinating multiple projects and/or grant-based programs
  • Demonstrated project management, analytical, and time-management skills 
  • Strong technical and computer skills, specifically Microsoft Excel and other data analysis tools 
  • Ability to foster effective working relationships with a variety of internal and externa stakeholders 
  • Ability to work well independently, identify and resolve issues, and adapt to changes in organizational priorities 
  • Understands and has an interest in the technology sector in BC and around the world 
  • Prior experience or deep knowledge of programs supporting innovation, entrepreneurship, research and/or commercialization is an asset
