Program Coordinator

The Program Coordinator is a key member of the Programs team, supporting the day-to-day tasks of running programs that foster innovation and company growth in the Province. We are looking for a detail-oriented individual that will support new program implementation and undertake ongoing reviews and evaluation of existing programs. The Program Coordinator will prepare and review contract documents, and coordinate, collect, assemble, and review financial and progress reports. The successful candidate will play a key role in sharing information and collaborating with other departments as well as external program partners and the stakeholder community. 

Compensation: $50,000 to $60,000 per annum
Reporting to: Director, Partnerships
Location: Vancouver, B.C.
Employment Type: Contract (six months with possible extension)

Duties + Responsibilities

  • Report to the Director of Programs on the designated Programs and supports the Program Manager in the delivery of Programs to provide better or more appropriate client service.  
  • Assist in creating program reports, analysis and maintenance of related databases.
  • Monitor and evaluate existing Programs by reviewing Program objectives, participate in development of Program evaluation criteria, review and revise reporting forms and related materials, evaluate processes and timelines and provide input into the development of Program promotional materials.
  • Initiate, develop and maintain effective working relationships with Program partners, funders and support agencies and provides regular Program information, statistics and reports.
  • Promote Programs to clients and potential clients through attending meetings, industry associations, academic institutions, economic development offices and others in formal and informal settings, attending trade shows, technical conferences and workshops and initiates other promotional activities in conjunction with communications staff and other departments.
  • Provides advice, information and assistance to clients and potential clients regarding specific Programs and referring to other programs, agencies, investors or commercial lenders.
  • Monitor and audit ongoing projects to ensure compliance with policies and standards as well as formal Project Agreements by reviewing and approving disbursement requests and budget changes, reviewing financial statements and technical reports.
  • Identify actual or potential project problems and take corrective action as required; prepare project reports and provide ongoing information to Innovate BC management and external sponsors and funders.
  • Provide background information regarding clients and programs to Innovate BC staff and others.
  • Conduct special studies, make presentations and participate in internal and external committee work relating to the areas of responsibility.
  • Maintain current awareness of developments in the fields of science and technology, entrepreneurship, economic development and financial assistance programs. 

 

Qualifications

  • Degree, diploma, designation or equivalent in related field (i.e. business administration, commerce, accounting, procurement and contract management, commerce, risk management or law), OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of two years' experience as a Program Assistant, Program Coordinator or related position.
  • Advanced planning, organizational, analytical and administrative skills.
  • Sound communication, facilitation and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to direct and manage multiple activities while maintaining attention to detail and make appropriate decisions regarding the progress of projects and disbursement of funds.
  • Proficiency in MS Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Demonstrated ability to be proactive, flexible and a collaborative team member
  • Knowledge of the skills required for entrepreneurship, or the commercialization of technology is an asset.
