Innovate BC is a provincial Crown agency that serves as a catalyst for innovation across B.C.’s economy. The agency's province-wide mandate encompasses the promotion of innovation in every economic sector, from start-ups to scale-ups to mature industries.
Working with a wide range of partners – including entrepreneurs, industry, Indigenous groups, business accelerators, academia, researchers, non-profits, and governments – Innovate BC is committed to building B.C.’s innovative capacities, solving big challenges, and growing great companies. The agency plays a leading role coordinating and collaborating with these partners to expand investments, leveraging its $6 million core budget and $50 million endowment to generate an additional $54 million in innovation funding last year.
The President & CEO will bring a passion and commitment to making B.C. a global leader in innovation. They will possess an in-depth understanding of the innovation/technology ecosystem and the intricacies of working across public sector, private sector, and non-profit organizations. The ideal candidate will have experience in public-facing roles working with government agencies and engaging with diverse external stakeholders. They will also have demonstrated capacities to champion entrepreneurship, inspire teams, and develop and deliver transformative initiatives that fuel positive change.
The President + CEO's unique blend of knowledge and experience will help Innovate BC harness innovation to drive economic development, promote job growth, advance equity and climate goals, and address other provincial priorities. Skilled in nurturing relationships with Indigenous groups, industry leaders and community advocates, the President + CEO's collaborative skills will reflect their commitment to inclusivity and diversity. They will also be able to manage a high-profile position with a strong understanding of board governance and the fiduciary responsibilities associated with managing public funds.
