AI Justice Challenge Update – 12 companies advance to next round

Written by Innovate BC | October 2, 2018

Innovate BC and the Ministry of Attorney General are excited to officially announce the 12 companies that have been qualified and selected to move on to the first phase of the AI Justice Challenge. The qualified participants for each challenge are:

CGI
IBM Services/Freshworks
Passage AI
AOT Technologies
Deloitte Canada
Diligen
OrpheusKey R&D Inc.
Sierra Systems
Classmethod Canada Inc.
Connected Displays Inc.
Countable Web Productions

As part of this initial phase, the 12 participants will be required to develop a proof of concept within the next two weeks. After that, they will demonstrate their solutions to a panel of experts and, if they meet the minimum score, they will be invited to a streamlined solicitation. The Ministry intends to select the most promising submission in each category to move into a 16-week paid residency period to further develop the product, which will take place in 2019.

The end goal of this Challenge is for the Ministry of Attorney General to implement these AI solutions to help British Columbians navigate their legal matters quickly, easily, and affordably. For the companies that make it to the final stage of the challenge, this is an incredible opportunity to grow their business, create jobs, and have the BC Government as a partner, customer, and reference.
